La moratoria turística implementada en las Islas Canarias a partir de 2001 supuso una estrategia de limitación o moderación cuantitativa del crecimiento de la oferta alojativa derivado del denominado «tercer boom turístico». Sin embargo, tanto las medidas implementadas dirigidas a la cualificación del modelo alojativo turístico, como las de modulación del crecimiento, han tenido un importante impacto territorial. En este trabajo se plantean los efectos territoriales de la estrategia de moratoria turística sobre el crecimiento de las áreas turísticas de las islas consolidadas turísticamente.

The «touristic moratoria» implemented in the Canary Islands from 2001 was a strategy for limiting or reducing the growth of accommodation offer generated during the so-called «third tourist boom». However, both the measures implemented to qualify the tourist accommodation model such as the ones implemented in the growth control itself have had a significant regional impact. In this paper we will discuss the spatial effects the «touristic moratoria» strategy have had on the spatial expansion of the tourist areas on tourist consolidated islands.
