    L'autenticità del Teage, considerato nell'Antichità come opera indubbia di Platone, è stata negata in epoca moderna. Tali dinieghi si fondano, tra l'altro, sulla descrizione della 'voce demonica' propria a Socrate così come essa sembra essere svolta in questo dialogo. La descrizione del fenomeno demonico di Socrate viene qui messa a confronto con altri testi sicuramente platonici (in particolare, l'Apologia, il Simposio ed il Teeteto). Viene inoltre presa in esame, per inciso, la stessa nozione di Platone come 'autore'. Si conclude che il daimonion socratico del Teage presenta alcune caratteristiche effettivamente incoerenti con quelle attribuitegli altrove: tuttavia, alcune di tali incongruenze potrebbero essere il risultato deliberato di una dinamica intertestuale in atto all'interno del corpus platonico.

    There were no doubts in Antiquity about the authenticity of the Theages. Such authenticity has only been denied in modern times. Denials are motivated, among other reasons, by the circumstance that Socrates' 'daemonic voice', such as described by this dialogue, exhibits several features which strike the reader as being absolutely unique. The present essay compares the treatment reserved by the Theages to Socrates' daemonic experience with the rendering of the same event in other doubtlessly Platonic texts (notably the Apology, the Symposium and the Theaethetus). It also incidentally discusses the notion of Plato as an 'author'. The conclusion is that the Socratic daimonion described by the Theages must be considered as something radically different from the event described in several other Platonic contexts: however, some inconsistencies might be deliberate, and result from an intertextual play within the Platonic corpus.
