    This article presents a survey of the pseudipegrapha found among the works of Nilus of Ancyra (4th-5th c. CE). In the process of differentiating the ancient and modern notions of 'forgery' it has proven convenient to distinguish three broad categories: (1) pseudepigrapha properly speaking, that is, writings by other authors which were erroneously attributed to Nilus; (b) texts which were intentionally altered or contaminated; (c) newly created forgeries. The uncertain identity of Nilus as an historical and literary figure has contributed to the proliferation of spurious and forged works from antiquity up to modern times.

    Questo contributo presenta un sondaggio sui falsi presenti tra le opere di Nilo di Ancira (IV e V sec. d.C.). Nella necessità di distinguere la nozione di 'falso' dell'epoca moderna da quella antica vengono per comodità distinte tre macro-categorie: (a) gli pseudoepigrafi in senso proprio, vale a dire scritti di altri autori erroneamente attribuiti a Nilo; (b) adulterazioni testuali intenzionali (c) falsi ex nihilo. La malcerta identità storica e letteraria di Nilo ha favorito la proliferazione di spuri e di falsi dall'antichità fino ai tempi nostri.
