In Francisco de Rojas Zorrillas Casarse por vengarse, the main character, Blanca, dies in the end when her husband, the Constable, causes a false wall to come tumbling down on her. The wall, which had been built years earlier to facilitate the meeting of Blanca with her lover Enrique, becomes a lethal weapon in the hands of her husband. This article tackles the problem of locating the wall and examines the extent of the playwrights mastery or shortcomings in working out spatial composition for the stage.
