  Este trabajo trata de patentizar las relaciones que el pensamiento filosófico de René. Descartes (1596-1650) tiene con el mundo ar1ístico de su época, y demostrar en concreto la influencia sufrida por et pensamiento "plástico" del arquitecto Salomón de Caus (1576~ 1626). Se analizan en detalle (tanto en su evolución como en su iconografía) las obras -ya de jardinería ya ros tratados teóricos- de este artista para ver cómo se impone o 1raduce el manierismo del lenguaje artístico en ª' pensamiento racionalista de principios del XVII.

  Diese Arbeit spürt den Wecheselwirkungen zwischen der Philosophie René Descartes (1596-1650) und den künstlerischen Strömungen seiner Zeit nach. Insbesondere soll auf den Einfluss eingegangen warden, der von den plastischen Konzepten des Architekten Salomon de Caus (1576-1626) ausging. Dessen Gartenbaukunst und theoretische Abhandlungen warden sowohi im Hinblick auf ihre Entwicklung als auch ihre ikonographischen Elemente im Detail untersucht, um somit zu erhellen, in welcher Weise der Manierismus in der Kunst auf die Ausgestaltung des rationalistischen Denkens zu Beginn des 17. Jh. Einfluss nahm.

  This work means to point out the reciprocal impact of the philosophy of Rene Descartes (1'596-1650) on the one hand and the art of his time on the other, especially with regard to the plastic ideas of the architect Salomon De Caus (1576-i 626).

  The garden architecture as well as the theoretical works of the latter have been submitted to a detailed analysis as to· their development and iconograph1cal aspects in order to disclose the way in which mannerism in art was translated into the rationalist language of philosophy at the beginning of the 17th Century.
