En 1987, la prensa de calidad -dirigida a las élites del poder político, económico y cultural- convirtió las Subastas de Arte en acontecimiento cultural, cuyo auge se prolongó hasta 1990, mientras duraron los más altos precios nunca conseguidos hasta entonces por la pintura, considerada como un Valor Financiero más. Lo que podía haber sido noticia de un día se convirtió en un acontecimiento cultural que pasó a primera página del periódico desde las crónicas de las secciones de Cultura. En los suplementos, tanto económicos como los dedicados al Arte y a los temas propios del magazine, los tres diarios de calidad editados en España -ABC, El País y La Vanguardia- han completado la información sobre Subastas de Arte a través de reportajes e informes centrados en el valor del arte como inversión. Este mismo sentido ha sido el que ha presidido los escasos textos argumentativos sobre Subastas de Arte publicados.

In 1987, the quality newspapers, directed at the elire of the political, economic and cultural power, converted Art Auctions into cultural events, whose boom lasted until 1990, as long as the period in which the highest prices ever fetched by paintings continued; their being considered as just another Financia! Value. What could have been very short-lived news became a cultural event which was moved from the chronicles of the Culture sections to the front page of the newspaper. In both the Financia! supplements and those dedicated to Art and the magazine's own themes, the three quality newspapers edited in Spain -ABC, El País y La Vanguardia- have completed the information about Art Actions by means of reports concentrating on the value of art as an investrnent. The same sense has dominated the few argumentative texts published about Art Auctions.

1987. urtean, kalitatezko prentsak -botere politiko, ekonomiko eta kulturalari zuzendua denak- Arte-Subastak kultur-ekintza bihurtu zituen, subasta horiek igotzen ihardun zutelarik 1990.urteraino, pinturak, beste Finantza-Balio balitz bezala harturik, inoiz baino prezio garestiagoak lortu bait zituen epe honetan. Egun bateko berri soila izango zena kultur-akontezimendua bihurtu zen, eta Kultur Saileko sekziotako kroniketatik egunkarien lehen orrialdera pasa zen. Espainian argitaratzen diren hiru kalitatezko egunkariek (ABC, El País eta La Vanguardia) bere gehigarrietan, bai ekonomikoetan eta baita Arteari eskainitakoetan zein magazine-gaietakotan ere, arteak inbertsio gisa duen balioari buruzko erreportaiak eta informeak bitartez osatu dute Arte-Subasten informazioa. Zentzu herbera izan da Arte-Subastei buruzko argudio-testu urritan jabetu dena.
