    The analysis of internal and international migration witness the differences in territorial development and social Portuguese and the existence of several factors of attraction- repulsion in the country and across borders. Translated by a constant loss of population in certain areas of the territory, their persistence testifies the demand for better living conditions outside the areas of origin and are generating new social and cultural phenomena extend to the whole society. Both have also contributed to the arrival of new residents � immigrants � from other continents seeking the limits of the old Mediterranean Europe, the refuge provided by the meager economic and social systems that ensure the survival of these societies.

    A análise das migrações internas e internacionais testemunha as diferenças do desenvolvimento territorial e social português bem como a existência de diversos factores de atracção-repulsão no país e além-fronteiras. Traduzidas por perdas constantes da população em certas áreas do território, a sua persistência testemunha a procura de melhores condições de vida fora das áreas de origem e são geradoras de novos fenómenos sociais e culturais extensivos a toda a sociedade. Para tanto têm igualmente contribuído a chegada de novos habitantes � imigrantes � oriundos de outros continentes que procuram nos limites da velha Europa mediterrânica, o refúgio concedido pelos magros sistemas económicos e sociais que asseguram a sobrevivência destas sociedades.
