    El present assaig aborda la qüestió del desordre moral imperant en les societats occidentals contemporànies i de com podem fer-hi front �si és que podem fer-hi front. Es pren per referéncia la proposta aristotélica del filósof escocés contemporani Alasdair Maclntyre centrant-nos en la seva obra més coneguda, influent i polémica: After Virtue.

    Aquest assaig está dividit en quatre parts: (1) la diagnosi de la moral en el món contemporani; (2) l'avaluació de si tota moral és essencialment irracional; (3) certes consideracions critiques a la proposta filosófica d' After Virtue; i (4) reflexions entorn la fugida endavant amb qué acaba l'obra: la importancia de la comunitat local per a la prescrvació de la civilitat, la vida moral i la vida intel-lectual.

    The subject of this cssay is the prevailing moral disorder of our contemporary Western societies and how we can dcal with it � if it is at all possible. Particular attention will be paid to the contemporary Scottish philosopher Alasdair Maclntyre, focusing on his most well-known, influential, and polemic book: After Virtue.

    The essay is divided in four parts: (1) the diagnosis of the state of morality in the contemporary world; (2) the evaluation of whether all morality is essentially irrational or not; (3) certain critical considerations of After Virtue's philosophical proposals; and (4) some thoughts about the end of the book: the significance of the local community for the preservation of civility and the intellectual and moral life.
