L'article intenta explicar la relació entre teologia i política i com aquesta relació ha anat modificant-se al llarg deis temps. A propósit d'una carta de Mahmud Ahmadinejad a George W. Bush s'analitzen els diversos períodes d'una història desconcertant que planteja qüestions profundes sobre la fragilitat de la nostra perspectiva moderna. Fins i tot les democràcies més estables i reeixides �amb els partidaris més civilitzats i amb uns principis més elevats� han resultat ésser vulnerables al messianisme polític i la seva justificació teològica. La proposta és dones aconseguir entendre de quina manera això va succeir a l'Occident avançat mitjançant l'anàlisi d'alguns dels personatges més importants d'Europa en aquest sentit i ser capaços d'apamar el repte que afrontem i decidir de quina manera hem de respondre.

The article attempts to explain the relationship between theology and polities, and how this relationship has been ehanging over the course of time. Referring to a letter from Mahmud Ahmadinejad to George W.Bush, the artiele examines different periods of a disturbing history that raises deep questions about the fragility of our modern perspeetive. Even the most stable and sueeessful democraeies �with the more eivilized supporters and the highest principieshave proved to be vulnerable to politieal messianism and its theologieal justifieation. The proposal is therefore to get to understand how this happened in the advaneed West through the analysis of some of the most important european figures and to be able to acknowledge the ehallenges we faee and how to react.
