    El autor analiza �lo criminal� en la novela policíaca y su elevación a la categoría de protagonista de la trama. Si en su nacimiento la novela policíaca del Siglo XIX se centraba en la figura del detective, en los albores del Siglo XX el interés se centra en la figura del criminal no sólo como antagonista del detective sino como protagonista absoluto y eje alrededor del cual se desarrolla la acción de la novela y, al mismo tiempo, objeto de un profundo y minucioso análisis psicológico.

    The author analyzes �the criminal� of a detective novel and its elevation to the rank of the plot�s protagonist. If in its origins the detective novel of the XIX Century focused on the figure of the detective, at the dawn of the XX Century the interest focuses on the figure of the criminal not only as the antagonist of the detective, but as the absolute protagonist and the focal point around in which the action unfolds in the novel and, at the same time, object of a deep and profound psychological analysis.
