Resumen de Regiones históricas, independencia y construcción de la nación venezolana

En la historiografía venezolana aún están vigentes las tesis �patriótica� y �nacionalista� divulgadas por las elites militares y cívicas de la Independencia a través del discurso político. El moderno concepto de nación, enriquecido por la doctrina liberal con la definición de �pueblo� soberano, como la suma de los individuos que la habitan, chocó con la realidad de �los pueblos�, colectivos originados por las formas de sociabilidad y modos de vida que habían regido a las comunidades regionales. Ante el tradicional enfoque histórico de abstractos e impersonales macro agregados como Estado y Nación, se propone el estudio de la construcción de la nación desde una perspectiva que enriquezca la visión de este proceso con la participación de las definidas sociedades regionales. Teórica y metodológicamente este artículo introduce el concepto de �región histórica� que rescata las propuestas y participación en la construcción de la nación de un más amplio colectivo territorial y social, y las analiza en la larga duración con criterio de totalidad sociocultural. Una de las principales conclusiones derivadas de este enfoque es cómo durante el siglo XIX las relaciones dialécticas contractuales entre las sociedades regionales y el poder central definieron la construcción de la nación venezolana.

In the Venezuelan historiography is still present the �patriotic� and �nationalist� thesis, divulged by the Independence�s civic and military elites through the political speech. The modern concept of nation enriched by the liberal doctrine with the definition of sovereign �people�, like the sum of the individuals that habit it, collided with the reality of �people� thought as collectives originated by the forms of sociability and way of life that had governed the regional communities. Instead of the traditional historic focus of abstracts and impersonals macro�aggregated as State and Nation, it is proposed the study of the nation construction from a perspective that enrich the vision of this process with the participation of the defined regional societies. Theoretical and methodological this article introduces the concept of �historic region� that rescues the proposals and participation in the nation construction with a more extensive territorial and social collective, and analyses them in the long time with a whole social culture criterion. One of the principals conclusions derived from this perspective is how during the 19th century, the contractual dialectics relations between the regional societies and the central power defined the construction of the Venezuelan nation.
