    El maestro paraguayo Manuel Riquelme publicó en 1936 la primera edición de sus Lecciones de Psicología, un texto de carácter introductorio concebido para la enseñanza en las escuelas normales de profesores. El libro ocupa un lugar destacado en la historia de la psicología paraguaya como el primero de este género en haber sido publicado por un autor nacional.

    Su estructura formal consta de veintidós lecciones, algunas de las cuales presentan capítulos anexos. Entre ellas, la primera versa sobre la conciencia e incluye un anexo sobre la historia de la psicología estudiada a través de la evolución del alma. De acuerdo con el planteamiento de su autor, los cambios en la concepción de esta han pasado por cuatro etapas denominadas: a) Concepto metafísico, b) Concepto biológico, c) Concepto antropológico y d) Concepto científico. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los presupuestos filosóficos y conceptuales para este enfoque en la historia de la psicología, al tiempo de reivindicar al texto como la primera pieza de carácter historiográfico general para la psicología paraguaya.

    El trabajo también se propone ubicar a Riquelme como el primer autor que haya producido en esta área. En la parte final se discute el lugar que corresponde al texto en la historia de la psicología nacional

    The Paraguayan teacher Manuel Riquelme published in 1936 the first edition of his Lessons of Psychology, an introductory textbook for the teaching of psychology at teacher training education. The book has an important place in the history of psychology in Paraguay for being the first one of this kind published by a Paraguayan author. The book is organized in twenty two lessons, some of them including annexed chapters. The first lesson is about consciousness and presents an annexed chapter about the history of psychology studied through the evolution of human soul. According to the author�s ideas, the changes in the soul have gone through four stages, named as follows: a) the metaphysical concept, b) the biological concept, c) the anthropological concept, and d) the scientific concept.

    The purpose of this work is to analyze both the philosophical and conceptual postulates of this approach in the history of psychology. At the same time, we claim that it is the first general historiography textbook in the history of psychology in Paraguay and Riquelme is the first author of this field. At the end of this work, we discuss the place that should be assigned to this book in the Paraguayan psychology history
