This article explores research undertaken as part of the Hansard Societys Parliament 2020 project undertaken in the UK, Canada, Chile and Australia, looking at how new technologies can transform internal parliamentary processes and the relationships different legislatures have with the public. It discusses the findings of focus groups and interviews conducted with parliamentarians, parliamentary officials and members of the public, and gives recommendations on how internal processes and legislatures relationships with the public can be improved focused around the areas of modernising processes, improving access to information, enhancing engagement and making effective use of technologies.
