Resumen de Territorio, turismo y desarrollo sustentable en la quebrada de Humahuaca: paisaje y naturaleza al servicio de la práctica turística

  En este artículo se analiza la relación entre territorio, turismo y desarrollo sustentable en la Quebrada de Humahuaca, provincia de Jujuy, Argentina, principalmente a partir de su Declaración como Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO en el año 2003, bajo la categoría de paisaje cultural. Se abordan las transformaciones (materiales y simbólicas) en el uso de territorio quebradeño a partir de la Declaratoria de la UNESCO y del incremento de la actividad turística, poniendo el foco en la propuesta del gobierno provincial de impulsar un desarrollo turístico sustentable. Asimismo, se analizan los sentidos de naturaleza y paisaje que circulan en la Quebrada en relación con la práctica turística y las tensiones que ello viene generando a nivel local. El artículo da cuenta que ante la falta de regulación e intervención del gobierno provincial en la preservación del patrimonio natural y cultural de la Quebrada, se han generado serias transformaciones que repercuten en el territorio, medio ambiente, en las costumbres y prácticas culturales de la población local. Se utilizan como fuentes de análisis: entrevistas realizadas a diversos actores (pobladores locales, emprendedores turísticos, funcionarios provinciales y municipales) y documentos provinciales vinculados con la Declaración de la Quebrada de Humahuaca como Patrimonio Mundial, el Plan de Gestión del sitio y el Plan de desarrollo turístico sustentable de la provincia

  Territory, Tourism and Sustainable Development in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Argentina.. Landscape and Nature on Available for the Tourism Industry. This article examines the relationship between territory, tourism and sustainable development in the �Quebrada de Humahuaca� (Jujuy, Argentina) mainly from its Declaration as World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 2003 under the category of cultural landscape. It deals with the changes (material and symbolic) in the Quebrada´s territory since 2003 and the growing influence of tourism, focusing on the provincial government's proposal to establish a sustainable tourism development. It also analyzes the meanings of nature and landscape that goes around in the �Quebrada de Humahuaca� in relation to the practice of tourism and the tensions it has generated in the area. The article reports that the absence of regulation and intervention of the provincial government in the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage have been causing serious changes that threaten territory and environment and the customs and cultural practices of the local population. This article is based on the following sources: interviews with different people (local people, tourist businessmen, provincial and municipal functionaries) and documents of the province related to the declarations of the "Quebrada de Humahuaca" as a World Heritage site, its Management Plan and the "Sustainable Tourism Development Plan from the province.
