    El artículo presenta una reflexión de las implicaciones epistemológicas en la investigación turística con la finalidad de construir y producir conocimiento del turismo, entre las que destaca la contraposición que comúnmente suele realizarse entre teoría y práctica, ciencia y cientificidad, crítica e interpretación, decantando por procesos teórico metodológicos objetivados (positivistas) debido a la hegemonía y carga argumentativa de la ciencia moderna. En el caso del turismo, se analiza concretamente lo que ha sido la construcción de su conocimiento mediante un breve panorama que muestra sus orientaciones y sesgos, tanto en el ámbito mundial como en México y Brasil, observando la carencia de una investigación crítica, destacando la importancia que tienen las instituciones de educación superior (IES) y el reto que conlleva gestar las condiciones para un pensamiento e investigación crítica-reflexiva en las universidades que estudian e investigan el turismo. Esta reflexión toma como marco la perspectiva crítica que aúna la reflexión filosófica y el análisis pragmático de los objetos en cuestión

    Epistemological implications in tourism research. The article presents a reflection of the epistemological implications of tourism research with the aim of creating and producing knowledge of tourism, among which the opposition is often commonly made between theory and practice, science and scientific criticism and interpretation, decanting theoretical and methodological objectified processes (positivist), due to the hegemony and argumentative burden of modern science. In the case of tourism, specifically discusses what has been the construction of knowledge through a short scene showing their orientations and biases, both worldwide and in Mexico and Brazil, noting the lack of critical research, highlighting the importance of higher education institutions (HEIs) and the challenge involved gestate the conditions for a thought-reflective and critical research in universities and research studying tourism.
