El Urinario de Duchamp es tal vez la obra más representativa del arte contemporáneo. Resulta paradójico, por tanto, que jamás haya sido expuesta. Desde el principio se enfrentó al rechazo y la desaparición. Rechazo por parte del juicio artístico tradicional. Desaparición, como una nueva estrategia de supervivencia y presencia estética. En este artículo se analiza tanto el rechazo como la desaparición, en torno a la obra mencionada, tomados como rasgos que inauguran el arte contemporáneo.
Duchamp�s Fountain is maybe the most representative work in contemporary art. So it seems paradoxical that it hadn�t ever been exposed. Since its very beginning it faces reject and disappearance. Reject by the traditional artistic judgment; disappearance as a new aesthetic strategy, looking for survival and presence. Reject, as well as disappearance of the Fountain, are analyzed in this article as outstanding characteristics of the work in contemporary art.
