Los "buystanders": consideraciones en torno al fenómeno del bullying en Chile

    Durante el último tiempo ha salido a la luz pública una serie de casos relacionados con el bullying o matonaje escolar en Chile. Este fenómeno es poco reconocido en nuestro medio, por lo que es fundamental revisarlo debido a las repercusiones en el bienestar que pueden tener los protagonistas de estos hechos, además para contribuir con estrategias de prevención al respecto.

    En Chile existen pocos estudios sobre este tema, pero alrededor del mundo, en especial en Europa, se ha abierto un nuevo campo de investigación, enfocado principalmente en los bystanders.

    Los bystanders, observadores o testigos son aquellos sujetos que están presentes durante la situación de violencia entre alumnos, y que pueden actuar de tres formas distintas, tanto como reforzadores de la agresión, defensores de la víctima o indiferentes ante el hecho.

    Considerando estas nuevas aproximaciones investigativas, es que se presenta un breve análisis con respecto a lo que se entiende por violencia y cómo ésta se ha incrustado en la escuela y en las lógicas que invisibilizan, e incluso legitiman la violencia. Continuando con los estudios que se han hecho en Chile y en el extranjero, vislumbrando cómo se ha tratado el tópico de los bystanders. Se caracteriza a este grupo, pero sin perder de vista el carácter dinámico del fenómeno, para finalizar con una reflexión en torno a cómo entendemos el bullying, las complejidades de su abordaje y los nuevos desafíos que presenta considerar nuevos actores y visiones del tema.

    During the last years old has come to light a number of cases related to bullying and school bullying in Chile. This phenomenon is largely unrecognized in our environment, so review is essential because the impact on welfare may be the protagonists of these events and also to contribute to prevention strategies in this regard.

    In Chile there are few studies on this subject, but around the world especially in Europe, has opened a new field of research, primarily focused on the Bystanders.

    The Bystanders, observers or witnesses are those individuals who are present during the violence between students, and can act in three different ways, such as reinforcers of aggression, victim advocates or indifferent to the fact.

    Whereas these new investigative approaches, is that it presents a brief analysis on what is meant by violence and how it has become embedded in school and in the logic that hidden and legitimize the violence. Continuing with the studies have been done in Chile and abroad, glimpsing how it has dealt with the topic of Bystanders. It characterizes this group, but without losing sight of the dynamic nature of the phenomenon, concluding with a reflection on how we understand the bullying, the complexities of their approach and consider new challenges posed by new actors and visions of the subject
