    Unlike the case of standing as a candidate for the French presidency, which is a decision taken by an independent individual acting in his own name, running for the White House is fundamentally always a process that is initiated by a community that nominates and then supports its chosen candidate. As is the case with all forms of running for office within the American political system, a nominee for the White House must follow the blueprint of becoming a regular nominee, a position that is always decided by the grassroots.

    À l’inverse de la candidature à l’Élysée qui est la décision d’un individu agissant de manière parfaitement indépendante et à titre personnel, une candidature à la Maison-Blanche est en principe toujours initiée dans une communauté, proposée et portée par elle. Comme toutes les candidatures dans le système politique américain, elle doit s’inscrire dans le modèle de la candidature régulière et la candidature régulière aux États-Unis provient toujours de la base.
