    El artículo compara diversas interpretaciones y aplicaciones de Malaquías 3:10 con el fin de mostrar cómo la traducción e interpretación de una palabra puede cambiar profundamente el sentido y la aplicación de un texto.

    El autor contrapone dos interpretaciones de Malaquías 3:10: la primera, entiende que el texto hace un llamado a ofrendar (diezmar) para sostener el templo, lo que se aplica a la �iglesia local� por algunos intérpretes cristianos. Una variante dentro de esta primera interpretación apunta a la �mayordomía cristiana� que estaría implicada en el texto de referencia. La segunda interpretación, que sostiene el autor siguiendo a otros exegetas como Arias Ardila, es que Malaquías 3:10 está haciendo un llamado a una �economía solidaria�, a abastecer un �almacén de provisiones�, y no al tesoro de los levitas o la casa real.

    This article compares various interpretations and applications of Malachi 3:10 showing how the translation and interpretation of one word can dramatically change the meaning and application of a text. The author then compares two interpretations. The first understands the text as an exhortation to give (tithe) in order to support the temple, which then is applied to the �local church� by some Christian interpreters. A variant of this first interpretation understands the reference to be �Christian stewardship.� The second interpretation sees Malachi 3:10 as a call to give to a �storehouse� in �economic solidarity� and not to the coffers for the Levites or the Royal house. The author, and other exegetes like Arias Ardila, adhere to this second interpretation.
