Globalization has contributed to the development of the international adoption programme between China and Spain. In 2004, China became the second largest adoption donor in the world. Social studies on this topic continue to focus on the receiving country of the adoptees. This article examines the importance of taking into account the origin country as well as the receiving one when exploring the historical and cultural attitudes towards the different characteristics that materialize what I propose to call the field of transnational adoption.
