  Through the semiological analysis of three urban planning studies spread over the time (Livre Blanc, 1970 ; Neptune, 1992 ; Grand Large, 2008), this paper questions the notions of author, identity and the professional practices of architects and town planners from three complementary angles: first, the proliferation and the economic depreciation of urban studies, second, the semantic shift of the contents of the projects, from a political to a media perspective, and third, the dialectic of the visible and the invisible. In this movement, from the conception to the communication of the project, the collective space - made by opinions and by controversies - is abandoned to the benefit of mental space, a space of desires which is implacably individual. The question of the author of the urban project takes a central place in this process. By hiding himself, deliberately and unconsciously, the author provides not so much a project but a myth which can be appropriated and consumed by everyone.

  A travers l'analyse iconographique d'études d'urbanisme issues de trois projets dunkerquois étalés dans le temps (Livre blanc, 1970 ; Neptune, 1992 ; Grand Large, 2008) cette contribution interroge les notions d'auteur, d'identité et de pratiques des urbanistes sous trois angles complémentaires: celui de la prolifération et de la dépréciation économique des études, celui du glissement sémantique du contenu du projet dont ces études sont les médiateurs, celui, enfin, de la dialectique du visible et de l'invisible. Dans ce mouvement qui va de la conception à la communication, l'espace collectif - fait d'opinions et de controverses - aurait été abandonné au profit de l'espace mental, espace du désir, irréductiblement individuel. La question de l'auteur du projet urbain occupe une place centrale dans ce processus. En se dissimulant, sciemment et inconsciemment, l'auteur accoucherait en effet non plus tant d'un projet que d'un mytheappropriable et consommable par tous.
