The Confraternity of the Jesus and Mary Blessed Rosario Soriano Calabro, and the cult of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Scourge

    The arrival of the Dominicans in Calabria, has undoubtedly marked a profound change in the organization religious, social and cultural development of most of the region.

    Since 1401, when the Cenobites settled permanently in the town of Catanzaro, the devotion to the Virgin of the Rosary is popularized gradually in all Calabria. The reason why the cult followers Rosario made in populations of the south, is also due to the fact that in the capital of Calabria, was built the first fraternity in the name of Jesus and Mary SS. Rosario, immediately after the founding of the Dominican monastery. In short, Catanzaro welcomed addition to the Dominicans who founded the monastery and the church open for worship of the Rosary is ipso facto also did their best to erect the "Company" or the SS. Rosario and in the name of Jesus Things went much the same way even Soriano, after the founding of the monastery by Vincent of one of Catanzaro in 1510.

    L�arrivo dei frati domenicani in Calabria, ha senza dubbio segnato un cambiamento profondo nell�organizzazione religiosa, sociale e culturale di quasi tutta la regione.

    A partire dal 1401, quando i cenobiti si insediarono stabilmente nella città di Catanzaro, il culto verso la Vergine del Rosario si divulgò a poco a poco in tutta la Calabria. Il motivo per cui il culto Rosariano fece proseliti nelle popolazioni del meridione, è dovuto anche al fatto che nel capoluogo calabrese, venne eretta la prima confraternita nel nome di Gesù e Maria del SS.

    Rosario, subito dopo la fondazione del convento domenicano. In breve, Catanzaro accolse i domenicani che oltre a fondare il convento e aprire la chiesa al culto del Rosario si prodigarono ad erigere ipso facto anche la �Compagnia� ossia la Confraternita del SS. Rosario e nel nome di Gesù. Le cose andarono pressappoco allo stesso modo anche a Soriano, dopo la fondazione del convento ad opera di fra Vincenzo da Catanzaro nel 1510.
