From 1933, numerous laws had been announced to restricting Jewish economic activity. On november 7, an young Jew shot to a diplomat in the German embassy in Paris. For Goebbels, the shooting in Paris was a chance to incite the German people against the jews and launch a pogrom, known as the Night of Broken Glass. On the night of November 9, all over the Reich, the jewish shops and department stores were victim of the S.A. The windows were smashed and their contents launch to the street. Tens of synagogues were burned and thousand of jews were held in concentration camps. The brutality of the events was the first step to the Final Solution. The article is a summary accessible to the public of what happened during that period, but it contents too testimonies of survivors and an overview of events.
