Durante su breve estancia en París en 1893, Rubén Darío leyó intensamente a los poetas franceses contemporáneos y conoció personalmente a algunos de ellos. En este artículo tratamos de reconstruir su malogrado encuentro con Paul Verlaine y su larga amistad con Jean Moréas. También interpretamos un episodio que Darío cuenta en Los Raros sobre las relaciones del poeta Auguste de Villiers de l’Isle-Adam con el grupo naundorffista.

During his brief visit to Paris in 1893, Rubén Darío read tirelessly the French poets of the moment, and made friends with some of them. In the first part of this article we try to reconstruct his spoiled meeting with Paul Verlaine and his long friendship with Jean Moréas. We also interpret a certain episode of his book Los Raros in which Darío describes the relations of the poet Auguste de Villiers de l’Isle-Adam with the Naundorff group.
