    El presente artículo, que forma parte de otros estudios del mismo autor (Sousa, E. 2009), intenta, con las limitantes del caso, proponer una interpretación, de la forma en que de inicio se gesta la expansividad periférica en las ciudades, a partir de un centro metropolitano; tomando como caso de estudio la metrópoli de Monterrey, en el período preciso, cuando inicia el proceso de incorporación municipal (19401950), que da lugar no sólo al fenómeno metropolitano; sino también, a la generación y a la ulterior multiplicación, hasta nuestros días, de múltiples espacios de características diferenciadas.

    The present article that comprises of other studies of the same author (Sousa, E. 2009), tries, with the obstacles of the study case, to propose an interpretation, of the form of beginning deed of the peripheral ex pansion in the cities, from a metropolitan center; taking as the study case the metropolis of Monterrey, in the period, when it initiates the process of municipal incorporation (19401950), that brings place not only to the metropolitan phenomenon; but also, to the generation and the later multiplication, to the present time, of multiple spaces with differentiated characteristics.
