La pericia de los estudiantes como diferenciador del desempeño en un curso en línea

    En este trabajo se propone que en el campo educativo es preciso considerar la existencia de estudiantes con diferente nivel de pericia en relación con el dominio de habilidades y conocimientos propios de la disciplina bajo estudio. Se discute la posibilidad de que los novatos requieran de una estructura instruccional más prescriptiva en los ambientes de aprendizaje en línea, dadas sus características cognitivas. El estudio compara a un grupo de estudiantes novatos versus uno de expertos en términos de algunos parámetros de su desempeño académico en un curso en línea de Psicología. Los resultados muestran que los expertos son más eficientes y efectivos en el curso. Se discute la necesidad de considerar este tipo de variables en el diseño de cursos en línea.

    This study proposes that within the educational field, consideration must be given to the existence of students with different levels of expertise in the skills and knowledge of the discipline at hand. The idea is presented that novices may require an instructional structure that is more prescriptive in settings of online learning, given their cognitive characteristics. The study compares a group of novice students with a group of expert students in terms of certain parameters of their academic performance in an online psychology course. The results show that the experts are more efficient and effective in the course. The need to consider this type of variables in the design of online courses is discussed.
