La libertad de expresión es el derecho humano propio de la creación artística y, por tanto, del cine, pero el cinematógrafo también ha mostrado, �visualizado�, la libertad de expresión, planteando en muchas películas la cuestión de los límites de este derecho humano, así como la de su fundamento, y la crítica a la libertad de expresión realmente implantada.
