    Proponer una reflexión sobre la independencia de Chile desde las autoridades que llevaron a cabo el proceso, y desde los proyectos o la ausencia de un proyecto original, concordante y homogéneo que lo condujeron, es la ambición de este artículo. En otras palabras, se tratará de caracterizar, en el contexto americano, la independencia de Chile a través, primero, del estudio de la evolución de la historiografía tratando del problema, luego, del estudio de las constituciones y, finalmente, de la reconstitución analítica del proceso de la independencia, del rol de sus líderes y de los modelos societales que se utilizaron.

    Propose a reflection on the independence of Chile from the authorities that led the process and from the plans or the absence of an original, concurrent and homogeneous plan that conduct it, is the ambition of this article. In other words, we will try to characterize, in the American context, the independence of Chile through, first, the evolution of study of the related historiography, then, the study of the constitutions and, finally, the reconstruction of the independence process, the role of its leaders and the society�s models that were used.
