    El presente trabajo intenta mostrar en la obra de Raymond Williams Cultura y Sociedad 1780-1950 De Coleridge a Orwell, como la noción de cultura atraviesa los cambios de época, planteando resignificaciones según las transformaciones emergentes en la modernidad. Al mismo tiempo, nos parece relevante, acercar una descripción en cuanto a como el autor, se vale de obras variadas de escritores ingleses en lo literario y poético para dar cuenta del acompañamiento de pensadores, artistas y escritores que contribuyeron a expresar las huellas que marca la dimensión cultural. Advirtiendo las contradicciones de las formas materiales y simbólicas de producción y circulación de la industria, el arte y la democracia en el advenimiento de la revolución industrial y su impacto en las sociedades contemporáneas.

    The present report tries to show how Raymond Williams in his work Culture and society 1780-1950 from Coleridge to Orwell deals with culture and change. We can see then, that culture goes through different ages adapting itself to the out comings of modern times and discovering, as well, new and refreshed meanings at the same time it is relevant to say that the author supports his own work with the productions of varied english poets and writers in order to make us recognize the contribution of the men of art to culture. His work also makes us notice of the contradictions of the material and symbolic expressions of industry, art and democracy in the frame of the uprising industrial revolution and its later impact on recent societies.
