he intention of this text is to discuss the possibilities of ar t as a dynamic cultural process capable of questioning dominant values, creating new forms of pe rception and propitiating indignations for human dignity. Art is a crucial aspect of t he human condition. It expresses our capacity to create symbols, metaphors, representations and simulacra of reality. This text looks at the history of several artistic movements and their break ing of standards, question- ing of absolute truths and revolutionary understanding of art.
