The purpose of this article is to address the issue of patrimonial activation from a gender perspective. We accept the fact that the value given to cultural heritage is part of a process of social construction in which women have, to a large extent, been absent. This is due to the fact that it has been groups of powerful elites who have historically held the legitimate and acknowledged right to defi ne heritage, among whom women were hardly represented. Already well into the XXth century, feminist epistemologists and feminist theories encouraged the observation and interpretation of how the patrimonial and museal values of daily life were being activated. We will see that against this context other imaginary values focusing on women, more specifically mothers, were taken into account.
