Resumen de Cultura informática y educación a distancia: posición estudiantil en la Escuela de Bioanálisis Aragua. Universidad de Carabobo

El presente trabajo tuvo como propósito explorar la cultura informática así como la posición respecto a la posibilidad de ofrecer asignaturas online en la licenciatura en Bioanálisis de la Universidad de Carabobo Sede Aragua. La naturaleza del estudio es de tipo exploratorio, dado que por su intencionalidad está encauzada a indagar un tema poco estudiado desde la perspectiva de sus protagonistas, sustentado en el enfoque cuantitativo en un diseño de campo de tipo transversal apoyado en información complementaria de tipo cualitativo, teniendo como sujetos de información a 33 alumnos. Entre los hallazgos más significativos, se encontró que casi todos los alumnos tienen acceso a computador e Internet en su casa, están parcialmente alfabetizados en cuanto a conocimiento y manejo de herramientas informáticas; manifiestan una posición favorable respecto a incorporar materias en modalidad a distancia. Las principales ventajas y desventajas giran en torno a temas económico y académico, mostrando una concepción pragmática de la educación. Se concluye que las declaraciones estudiantiles evidencian que las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) son subutilizadas en el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje. Al parecer son los docentes y las autoridades institucionales, quienes no han respondido al reto de la incorporación de las TIC en el contexto estudiado, con la versatilidad que demanda la sociedad de la información y la comunicación

The present research has as objective to explore the information technology culture as well as the position regarding the possibility of offering online subjects in the field of Bioanalysis at the University of Carabobo (Aragua). The study was exploratory because it was directed to research a scarcely studied issue from the perspective of its main characters, supported on the quantitative approach in a transversal and field design, but also considering qualitative additional information. Subjects providing information were 33 students. Among the most relevant findings, it was found that almost all the students have access to computers and the Internet in their homes; they are partially alphabetized in terms of knowledge and management of information technology tools; they expressed a positive opinion regarding the incorporation of some subjects in the distance learning modality. The main advantages and disadvantages were found to be both economic and academic which revealed a pragmatic concept of education. It was concluded that students’ statements show that information and communication technology (ICT) are underused in the teaching-learning process. It seems that professors and institutional officials have not responded to the challenge of incorporating ICT in the studied context with the quality of information and communication society demands nowadays.
