  This study aimed to understand how the participation in youth groups contributes to adolescent identity formation. To do so, sought to understand through literature review the characteristics of this stage of human development: biological, cognitive and social, as well as the creation of these groups and the influence they exert on their members, through social representations that identify with their pairs. The result was confirmed on the influence of groups in the identity formation of adolescents by bonds of affection and identification established, particularly in the �youth groups� in a positive, suggesting, therefore, greater investment and monitoring of such social organizations.

  Este trabalho se propôs a conhecer de que forma a participação em grupos de jovens contribui para a formação da identidade do adolescente. Para tanto, buscou compreender através de revisão bibliográfica as características deste estágio de desenvolvimento humano: biológico, cognitivo e social, bem como a constituição desses grupos e a influência que exercem em seus membros, através das representações sociais que os identificam com seus pares. Como resultado, obteve-se a confirmação sobre a influência dos grupos na formação da identidade dos adolescentes mediante vínculos afetivos e de identificação estabelecidos, particularmente nos �grupos de jovens� de forma positiva, que sugerem, portanto, maior investimento e acompanhamento dessas organizações sociais.
