    Este ensayo, que llega hasta la década de los setenta, es un relato histórico, cronológico y anecdótico de los hechos y los experimentos que antecedieron al descubrimiento de la molécula de ADN, las incidencias que rodearon el proceso y los trabajos posteriores relacionados con la síntesis, estructura y función de los genes. Con este trabajo se rinde un homenaje a los realizadores del que, a juicio de la autora, es el más importante hallazgo científico del siglo XX. Para hacer esta síntesis se han tomado como apoyo los artículos originales de los propios protagonistas de la historia, algunos de ellos, compilados en libros especiales y, muchos datos anecdóticos. La bibliografía, comentada es un recuento de los principales descubrimientos que se llevaron a cabo durante los años comprendidos en las décadas de los cuarenta, cincuenta, sesenta y parte de los setenta.

    This essay, which reaches to the seventies, is a historical, chronological and anecdotal story of the facts and the experiments that preceded to the discovery of DNA molecule, and, the later works that have to do with the synthesis, structure and function of the genes.

    We pay homage to the authors of one that, in the author�s opinion, it is the most important scientific discovery in the XX century. To make the synthesis we have taken as support, among other, the texts of the own protagonists of the history, especially, the original articles, some of them compiled in special books, and many anecdotic data. The commented bibliography is a recount of the main discoveries that were carried out during the fifties, sixties and seventies.
