    : The present article aims at discussing the con guration and the attributions of the Guardianship Council in relation to the Public Policy of Protection of Children and Adolescents. The Guardianship Council is a collective, permanent, autonomous, and non-jurisdictional governmental organization responsible, via the civil society, for looking after and ful lling the rights of children and adolescents. It acts according to the attributions established in the Statute of the Child and Adolescent whenever the rights of children and adolescents are violated, either by action or omission of the State or of the society, or by omission of the family or family abuse, taking the measures listed in the above-referred attributions.

    Este artigo tem por objetivo discutir a con guração e as atribuições do Conselho Tutelar no contexto da Política Pública de Proteção à Criança e ao Adolescente. O Conselho Tutelar é organismo público, de atuação colegiada, per- manente, autônomo, não jurisdicional e encarregado pela sociedade civil de zelar pelo cumprimento dos direitos da criança e do adolescente. Atua conforme as atribuições previstas no Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente, sempre que ocorrer violação de direito da criança e do adolescente, por ação ou omissão da sociedade e do Estado, pela falta, omissão ou abuso da família e em razão de sua conduta, aplicando medidas previstas nas mesmas atribuições.
