Resumen de Zur Rechtsgeschichte des österreichischen Protestantismus

Karl W. Schwarz

  • The contribution deals with the history of Protestantism in Austria with special regards to the relationship between church and state. Outgoing from two publications by G. Reingrabner and C. Link, the contribution discusses the results of their research and puts them up in a proper place of research-dialogue. To a large extent the author follows the excellent performance in these booklets, nevertheless he puts his own main emphasis and accents. According to the history the contribution is arranged in several sections (Reformation, Counter-reformation, Krypto-Protestantism, Tolerance [1781], Reception by Protestantenpatent [1861], Liberalism, Breakdown of the Habsburg monarcy, First republic, Era of Catholic Clericalism [1934-38], Era of National-Socialism [1938-45], Second republic), ending with the so called Protestantengesetz (1961)
