El artículo tiene como objetivo proponer un enfoque metodológico que permita comprender el papel territorial de los intercambiadores de transporte. Para esto se revisa el estado del arte de cómo se ha estudiado la relación infraestructura de transporte-territorio y se identifican las limitaciones metodológicas de los diferentes tipos de estudios.
El enfoque metodológico propuesto incluye los aspectos a observar y las escalas espaciales y temporales a emplear. De igual forma, se proponen tipologías de intercambiadores de transporte, en las que se tienen en cuenta los elementos, tanto del intercambiador como del territorio, que pueden condicionar la incidencia de esta infraestructura sobre el territorio en que se incardina.

The objective of this article is to propose a methodological approach which allows understanding the territorial role of transport interchanges. For this, the state-of-the-art in revised about of how the relation between transport infrastructure and territory has been studied, and, the methodological limitations of the different types of studies carried out are identified.
The methodological approach includes the aspects to be observed and the spatial and temporal scales to be used. Likewise, typologies of transport interchanges are proposed, in which the elements, both transport interchange and territory, are considered; this elements can condition the incidence of this infrastructure on the territory where it is established.
