  • Resumen
    • This article compares two very similar companies that have similar industries; similar production technologies are located in the same city and even get their managers mainly from the same school. Yet, the TQM approaches chosen and the practical tools that have seemed to work in these companies differ quite greatly. Together with our previous research findings, this suggests that the research in the field of Quality Management has been concentrating on areas with only marginal implications for the practitioners. In future research, emphasis should instead be put on the effects of factors that make TQM work and the history of TQM implementation in a bigger group of companies. Such factors could be the market requirements, the culture of the company and management, knowledge and learning issues.
