Resumen de The process capability and success rate in new product launching

Kristina Zgodavova

  • This paper represents the research issue of the production process capability at the new product launch stage. It is concerned with the product launch of an innovated automobile gearbox assembled in new production lines in the environment of developed mechanical production. Production processes of essential gear components are analysed by means of capability indices. The process capability to produce automobile gearboxes as a whole is given by the ratio of conformed products submitted for the first time to output control. A high average level of capability indices is observed, as well as their great variation and instability with the growing number of manufactured products. This is the fact that, along with the influence of unmonitored processes and external component supplies, causes the lower proportion of conformed gearboxes than required. The achievement of the desired proportion is determined by the normal distribution of characteristics of quality, their temporal stability and the attainment of average values of capability indices greater than Cp=2 with the lowest values of critical capability indices of single process exceeding Cpk=1,33.
