Resumen de Metáforas eucarísticas en el cine

El autor del presente artículo, profesor de psicología de la religión, es consciente del valor simbólico, y tantas veces arquetípico, de las expresiones artísticas; especialmente del cine. Por esta razón, en el presente trabajo aborda el tema de la “eucaristía”, tal como ha sido tratado en la gran pantalla, centrándose en sus representaciones metafóricas. Para ello, presta especial atención a tres filmes: Viridiana de Buñuel, El festín de Babette, de G. Axel, y La última cena de Gutiérrez Alea. Por su carácter figurado, estos filmes amplían su significación a aspectos que van más allá de lo meramente ritual y nos introducen en cuestiones básicas de la experiencia de fe, como son las de la imagen de Dios y la comprensión de la soteriología, en sus relaciones íntimas, y no siempre explícitas, con la cuestión del placer.

The author of this article, professor of The Psychology of Religion, is conscious of the symbolic value, and so many times archtypical, of the artistic expressions, especially of the cinema. For this reason, in the present work he tackles the theme of the “eucharist”, as it has been dealt with in the large screen, focussing on its metaphoric representations. For this, he pays special attention to three films: Viridiana of Buñuel, Babette’s Feast of G. Axel and the Last Supper of Gutiérrez Alea. Due to their figured character, these films widen their meaning to aspects that reach beyond that what is merely ritual, and introduce us into basic issues of the experience of faith, such as the questions of the image of God and the understanding of soteriology, in their intimate relationship, not all the times explicit, with the issue of pleasure.
