Many companies need to provide fast and reliable deliveries, and want information systems support for them. Therefore, this study constructs a simple reusable Theory of Constraints (TOC) based production planning and scheduling support into SAP, and provides an overview of the existing TOC based production planning and scheduling IS support. It briefly describes the ABB S-DBR construction and the results of implementing and testing it. The construction supports buffer management, planned load, choking release of orders, POOGI (Process Of On-Going Improvement) and capacity requirements planning. The pilot factory is happy: the construction provides realistic delivery times instantly, removes separate time-consuming planning in Excel, releases correct orders into the production process, and prioritizes them during execution. The literature study shows that the construction is new to the research and practitioners. Therefore, the implementation, the blueprint and the experiences are of interest to both practitioners and researchers seeking to improve the planning and scheduling practices.
