Resumen de Data protection and law enforcement, a long and winding road
In the past year a Commission proposal for a Council Framework Decision on the protection of personal data processed in the framework of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters was discussed in one of the Council's working groups. Until know these discussions have not resulted in a proposal for the Council to adopt. Apparently it is difficult to capture law enforcement into a solid European Union and tailor-made data protection framework. However, one could wonder why this is so difficult.
