  • During 2009, a series of sondages were carried out inside Santa Águeda. The cuts along the line of defence were also cleaned. The data obtained enabled us to confirm the absence of any settlement inside the precinct. The data indicate that the precinct was built in single operation, based on a pre-established design. This indicates that the precinct was probably of a temporary nature, and was most likely built in response to a specific situation which required a defensive structure, with no plans to establish a stable settlement.
