Este artículo analiza algunos aspectos claves del Madrid literario del siglo XVII, al tiempo que recorre seis lugares emblemáticos del denominado Barrio de las Letras. En primer lugar, se explican las posibles causas del establecimiento de la capitalidad en esta villa y sus antecedentes históricos. Tras esto, se describen dos de las grandes diversiones públicas del Madrid de esa época: la fiesta de los toros y las representaciones teatrales. Por último, visitando sus casas, se da noticia de la vida de tres genios literarios: Góngora, Quevedo y Lope de Vega.

This article analyzes some key aspects of literary Madrid of the 17th century, at the time that it crosses six emblematic places of the Neighborhood called of the Letters. First, are explained the possible reasons of the establishment of the capital in this villa and his historical precedents. After this, there are described two of the big public amusements of Madrid of this epoch: the holiday of the bulls and the theatrical representations.
Finally, visiting his houses, one gives news of the life of three literary geniuses: Góngora, Quevedo and Lope de Vega.
