Tratamiento del ictus con terapia ocupacional y fisioterapia

    En el artículo se analiza la recuperación de la capacidad funcional de un grupo de pacientes afectados de enfermedad cerebrovascular. Se seleccionaron los pacientes con ictus tratados en el servicio de rehabilitación durante un año. Fueron quince pacientes mayores de 65 años, con patología isquémica (14) y hemorrágica (1). Se valoró al inicio del tratamiento utilizando el índice de Barthel, método validado para el análisis de las actividades básicas de la vida diaria. Se trató mediante un tratamiento convencional de Terapia Ocupacional y fisioterapia para este tipo de afecciones. Al momento de finalizar el tratamiento, se valoró otra vez a cada paciente con el índice de Barthel. Además, se midió el grado de independencia a la marcha al alta.

    This article analyzes the functional capacity recovery of a group of patients suffering from stroke disease. Stroke patients treated at the rehabilitation service for a year were selected for this study.

    They were 15 patients over 65 years; 14 of them with ischemic pathology and 1 of them with hemorrhagic pathology. The Barthel Index, a validated method to measure functional abilities, was used at the beginning of the treatment. Patients were treated by means of occupational and physical therapy prescribed for these diseases. At the end of the treatment, each patient was measured by the Barthel Index again. Moreover, its degree of mobility was also evaluated at discharge
