Miguel Yuste Moreno (1870-1947): su contribución como clarinetista, profesor y compositor al desarrollo de la música española

    La figura de Miguel Yuste Moreno ha pasado desapercibida durante prácticamente todo el siglo xx, a pesar de ser una de las más importantes en la interpretación y la enseñanza del clarinete en España. El objeto de nuestro estudio es ahondar en su faceta de instrumentista, profesor y compositor, y en la trascendencia de su actividad para la música española. Se partirá del análisis de su aportación como solista en las principales formaciones orquestales y de cámara madrileñas de las que formó parte (Sociedad de Conciertos, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Banda Municipal de Madrid, Sociedad de Cuartetos, etc.), la trascendencia de su extenso magisterio en el Conservatorio de Música de Madrid (visible en la profesionalidad de sus discípulos y crucial para comprender la enseñanza del clarinete en la primera mitad del siglo XX) y el alcance de sus composiciones, en especial, aquéllas dedicadas a los instrumentos de viento, que vienen a cubrir un hueco en un repertorio escaso en la España de principios del siglo XX.

    Although Miguel Yuste Moreno was one of the most important clarinet performers and teachers in Spain, his contribution went practically unnoticed throughout the twentieth century. The objective of this study is to examine his performing, teaching and composing facets in greater depth, as well as the significance of his activities to Spanish music. The article begins by analyzing his contribution as a soloist with the most important orchestras and chamber ensembles of Madrid (Sociedad de Conciertos, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Banda Municipal de Madrid, Sociedad de Cuartetos, etc.), the consequences of the years he spent teaching at the Conservatorio de Música de Madrid (which are reflected by the professionalism of his students and are crucial for the comprehension of clarinet training during the first half of the twentieth century) and the importance of his compositions, especially those for wind instruments, that helped fill a void in the scant Spanish repertoire at the beginning of the twentieth century.
