The Spanish System for Identifying Agricultural Lots (SIGPAC) provides the grounds for the concession of subsidies according to surface space used by the Common Agricultural Policy when making its grants to the sector. The author sets the number of applications for this aid at some 900,000 at present and the monies handed over using SIGPAC´s data bases as the main reference when doing so at around 5,000 million Euros.
The author sees SIGPAC as very much the star turn in the gamut of novel technological devices that the Spanish Administration has employed of late.
