Para seguir ahondando en las complejas relaciones entre el artista-creador y el ambiente próximo en donde desarrolla su actividad, se ha escogido la figura paradigmática de El Greco y su presencia en las colecciones domésticas de los miembros de las oligarquías urbanas de la también especial ciudad de Toledo durante el Seiscientos. En efecto, rebuscando pacientemente en inventarios notariales, se ha conseguido documentar la existencia de hasta noventa y dos cuadros grequianos que, amén de los mejor conocidos retablos eclesiásticos, colgaban de las paredes de las casas toledanas durante el siglo XVII. Se realiza un estudio conjunto de esta importante muestra (denominaciones, temáticas, materiales, originalidad, precios, etcétera), siempre en el contexto de conocer mejor a sus sucesivos dueños -la mayor parte desconocidos para nosotros- y en medio de los demás objetos artísticos de cada entorno doméstico, para conocer gustos, preferencias, modas y piedades. Al mismo tiempo se traza un panorama de la pintura producida y recopilada en la castellana Toledo del Barroco

To continue delving into the complex relations between the artist-creator and the environment next to where develops its activity, has chosen the paradigmatic figure of El Greco and its presence in the collections household members of the urban oligarchies of the also special city of Toledo during the 1600s. In fact, sniffing patiently in notary inventories, has been achieved documenting the existence of 92 grequian tables that, in addition to the best-known church altarpieces, hung from the walls of the houses of Toledo during the XVIlth century.
A joint study of this important shows (designations, thematic, materials, originality, prices, etc.), always in the context of better known to their successive owners - the most of them unknown to us- and in the middle of the other art objects of each domestic environment, to hear tastes, preferences, fashions and devoutness. At the same time, provides an overview of the painting produced and gathered in the Castilian Toledo of the Baroque.
