  • The Hittites' religious festivals, which were written in cuneiform on clay tablets, played an important role in the Hittites (ca. 17th-13th centuries B. C. ). In this way, occasional ceremonies connected with a specific deity or cult center described the renewing of cult symbols of certain tutelary deities (CTH 683). The Hittite physical object of cult called (KUŠ)kursa-, cited also in several religious documents (e. g. , the mythological text CTH 324), could be an ancient sacred symbol which guaranteed peace, well-being and prosperity in the Hittite Kingdom.
