    Este trabajo pretende ofrecer algunos datos biográficos fundamentales sobre el judeoconverso Alfonso de Ávila. Como secretario de los Reyes Católicos, representó un papel muy destacado durante los años iniciales del reinado, hasta su fallecimiento a comienzos de 1490. Durante ese lapso cronológico, desarrolló una carrera burocrática que le llevó a protagonizar un encumbramiento social y económico, para el que no fue óbice su ascendencia judía. Asimismo, se ofrecen algunos datos sobre el legado que de él recibieron sus descendientes, sobre todo su único hijo varón, Francisco de Ávila, que también se consagró al servicio de la Corona.

    This article offers fundamental information on the judeoconvert Alfonso de Ávila. As secretary of the Catholic Monarchs, he played a very important role during the initial years of the reign, up to his death at the beginning of 1490. During this chronological period, he developed a bureaucratic career that led to his social and economic ascent, notwithstanding his Jewish ancestry. In addition, the study offers some information on the legacy that Alfonso de Avila left his descendants, especially his only son, Francisco de Ávila, who also devoted himself to the royal service.
